Description | "Kellaway had been nominated as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the byelection. However, he announced at a news conference on the eve of poll that he had resigned from the Liberal Democrats and joined the Labour Party. He recognized that it was too late to withdraw from the contest, but declined to give advice to those people in the constituency who wished to vote for a Liberal Democrat candidate.
Homeless had changed her name in order to contest the election. She sought election as a 'House Homeless Peoples Party' candidate.
Garman was sponsored by Sport Newspapers in order to take advantage of the free postage for election addresses. She sought election for the 'Buy the Daily Sport Party'."
