| Description | BBC Constituency Profile:
Delyn is a largely rural constituency which includes pockets of industrial areas around Flint and Mostyn Docks. The largest town is Flint, but local government is based in Mold, which was also home to the former Clwyd County Council.
It is situated close to some large employers in neighbouring seats in north-east Wales. Despite this, unemployment and economic inactivity are marginally above the UK average.
In the 1980s the seat was a classic two-party marginal which was held by the Conservatives before it swung to Labour and became a secure seat for the party in the 1990s. Conservative support increased in the 2010 election, reducing the Labour MP David Hanson's majority to just over 2,000. |
