| Description | BBC Constituency Profile:
The seat of Ealing Central and Acton in West London is extremely diverse and home to Polish, Asian, Arab, Irish, Japanese and African communities. Its proximity to Heathrow Airport, many tube stations and other good transport links have made it popular with young families.
The A40 Western Avenue route into central London cuts through the northern part of the seat and includes the Hanger Lane gyratory. Crossrail is set to run a service from Ealing Broadway in 2019. At 48.4%, it has the 14th highest proportion of people with a degree, according to ONS 2011 Census figures for England and Wales. High numbers have managerial level jobs or work in information and communications. Ealing Studios and the University of West London are based here.
In 2010, Conservative Angie Bray took the seat from Labour with 38% of the votes; Labour got 30.1%, Liberal Democrats 27.6% and UKIP 1.6%. |
