Description | On January 13, 2006 Liberal leader / Prime Minister Paul Martin dumped David Oliver as the party's candidate in Abbotsford. It has been alleged that Oliver tried to bribe NDP candidate Jeffrey Hansen-Carlson into dropping out of the race and supporting him, in exchange for a win in an upcoming municipal election or possibly a job in Ottawa. Mr. Oliver will remain on the ballot but has been asked to stop campaigning as a Liberal and will not be permitted to sit with the Liberal caucus should he win the election. |
