| Info | David MacKay is the grandson of a veteran who was allotted a piece of land near Agassiz after World War I. The family lost the land in the depression, and David was raised in East Vancouver. His father was a committed socialist and school teacher. As a youth, David participated in student protest at Simon Fraser University and was jailed as part of the 114-student occupation in support of access to education and the transferability of credits from community colleges. He worked for 15 years as a postal worker where he defended the union principle "the struggle continues." As a disabled worker, David upholds the principle "one class, one program."
