CA Pol Junkie: I agree, but only if Selzer does the looking!
Selzer doesn't really like polling outside Iowa. She specializes in Iowa and understands Iowa thoroughly.

Yeah, it was Republicans who were praising Selzer in 2016 when she caught the movement TO Trump nobody else did and she was exactly right. Then again in 2020 when she saw it as a better race for Trump than anyone else was saying and again got it exactly right. We praise her not because she gives results better for the Democrats but the opposite, gets the REAL results, and succeeds where so many pollsters failed in the bad years. She could be off, like any pollster can, but when Selzer comes out with an outlier poll in Iowa you better listen.

BrentinCO: Just to note that Tina Peters is in jail, in part, because she leaked passwords.
Obviously you know that she did it intentionally while this seems to be accidental.
Still, this is part of being a leader. You should resign if this level of incompetence is done by people you are supposed to have oversight on.

And basically, if you want to go anywhere in politics in Hawaii you have to be a Democrat. Once her scope extended beyond Hawaii she could move to her real party.

Because they were subjective and people fought over them.

Supposedly video of him groping the underage girl of a contributor.
Between the "Grab 'em by the pussy" audio, that's he's been convicted of sexual assault, and him going into the underage girls' dressing rooms at his beauty pageants I don't see this moving the needle much.

Can't imagine much that could be worse than what has already come out about Trump and half the country has just shrugged off.

BrentinCO: I'm still confused about what coming out as an "aesthete" really means and why it would be considered part of the LGBTQ community. I'm probably not the only one. Seems to me that most people (consciously or unconsciously) could fall into the category of appreciating the (inner or outer) beauty of another person disconnected from sexual or romantic attraction.
Yeah, when TQIA+ was added to the LGB acronym it started adding extra dimensions not related to sexuality. (Although the A - or at least part of the A is).
Trans people are obviously about how one feels about themselves and gender. Trans people can be straight, gay, bi, pan, etc. So another dimension not directly related to sexuality. Another gender dimension is how strongly an individual associates with a gender. Trans and CIS people both strongly identify with a gender, but nonbinary people only weakly associate with a gender or not at all.
Often coming with Asexual is Aromantic - abbreviated as AroAce. That means they are neither sexually attracted or romantically attracted to others. But the Romantic dimension can be applied to the other dimensions as well. Some people can be Straight and Aromantic, or Asexual but interested in Romantic relationships. Some are even interested in one gender sexuality and the other romantically (surprisingly common). I think this might be what Laydon is referring to, but I could be wrong. This dimension might fit into Q or the +.
Intersex is a biological condition where the individual has some characteristics of both genders. This might be due to odd combinations of single or more than 2 sex chromosomes or just developmental glitches during gestation. These individuals can have all the other dimensions attributed to them as well.
There's also the Demisexual dimension. Demisexuals only become sexually (or romantically) interested after they make a close emotional bond with another person. So the spectrum between people who can have one night stands with anyone and people who can't/won't unless they are in love.
Queer is a bit of a catch all (and + really is) but is tends to mean being fluid in one of more of the dimensions, changing with time.
Yeah, sexuality/romance/gender/biology is complicated.

I don't think pansexual is confirmed since the term doesn't have any connotation to sexual attraction:
Aesthetic attraction: occurs when someone appreciates the appearance or beauty of another person(s), disconnected from sexual or romantic attraction. - [Link]

It sounds like you/the Left have bought into and capitulated to the right wing framing on these issues. Just accepting their definitions?
A big chunk of politics is defining the framing of issues. You can't just accept the redefinition or words by your opponent the then be reactionary and oppose them. Maybe that's why the left is often so bad at politics.

E Pluribus Unum: But when his platform includes "SEAL THE BORDER" and "LOWER THE DEFICIT", it's hard to see people on the Left back him unless they haven't been paying attention
Why, exactly, are those supposedly anti-left issues? "Seal the border" is fine if you have a robust legal immigration and emergency refugee program. And the Republicans were the ones to shoot down the border bill. "Lower the deficit" should be a good thing for any side. It's the center-left Democrats who actually do that while the Republican blow up the deficit whenever they can.

So what happens if Kamala wins the Electoral College while Trump wis the popular vote?
Anyone think Trump won't insist that he should win because he won the popular vote?

BrentinCO: Weird question. Does anyone know if any early ballot cast by someone that dies before election day can be counted?
Yes, as long as early voting has opened, I believe it counts everywhere. I'm sure legislation to prevent that will appear soon, but it would be a nightmare to try and administer.

Some ass was using a big bot net to request millions of pages from the site. Usually shutting the server down for 10 minutes or so chases them off, but this picked right up when connection was established again. Had to push out fake pages for the rest of the site so they thought they were getting the pages while really getting bad data.

Probably because the evidence that any of them (mostly cloud seeding) actually work are very inconclusive and most don't reach the threshold of scientific proof and the few that have produce very little measurable effect. Note that your link does not have any analysis of its effect.
Of course, you can argue that global warming is proof the people can control the weather, but I'm not sure taking 150 years to create an effect can be considered to be "controlling the weather". (And note that climate and weather refer to different things.)
More extreme theoretical technical responses to climate change like spraying sulfur dioxide aerosols into the stratosphere to reflect sunlight and cool the planet are controversial but would also be more affecting climate then weather. Or at least the weather effects would be unpredictably chaotic. That mimics the global cooling by large volcano eruptions.
