Description |
The Democratic district convention met in Edenton on 10/2/1883. Skinner was nominated on the sixth ballot. Newspapers reported the following:
1st Ballot: Latham 104, Moore 101, Shaw 36, Barnes 20, Carter 16, Caho 14
5th Ballot: Latham 116, Moore 113, Shaw 37, Others about 30
At this point, Latham, Shaw, Carter, Barnes, and Caho withdrew. Skinner was placed in nomination.
6th Ballot: Skinner 169, Moore about 125.
