| Description | The U.S. Senate elections of 1962 were closely contested, with many seats changing hands. The Democratic Party won an overall victory of 50-49%. The new Senate had 67 Democrats to 33 Republicans, for a net gain of three for the Democrats.
New Senators: Dominick (R-CO), Ribicoff (D-CT), Inouye (D-HI), Jordan (R-ID), Bayh (D-IN), Pearson (R-KS), Brewster (D-MD), Kennedy (D-MA), McIntyre (D-NH), McGovern (D-SD), Tower (R-TX), Nelson (D-WI), and Simpson (R-WY).
