Description | House Speaker McWherter wins the Democratic nomination over Eskind and thwarts a comeback bid by former Gov. Dunn to win the General Election.
All of Eskind's campaigns are primarily financed by personal wealth, which she spends freely. McWherter campaign buttons urge, "Make Her Spend It All, Ned".
McWherter promises a 95-county economic development program, which he subsequently delivers.
Dunn, haunted by political skeletons from his 1971-75 term, falls way short.
