Description | Mark Richards fell 2,111 votes short of a majority in the General Election of 1830. The joint assembly convened on October 18 to hear the report of the canvassing committee and, in the case of the office of Lieutenant Governor, to vote by joint ballot for the three candidates who received the greatest number of votes. Richards was elected on the third ballot, receiving 117 of 211 ballots cast (55.5%). Egerton received 57 (27.0%) , and Roberts 37 (17.5%). |
