Description | William Palmer fell 1,749 votes short of a majority in the General Election of 1834. The joint assembly convened on October 10 to hear the report of the canvassing committee and, in the case of the office of Governor, to vote by joint ballot for the three candidates who received the greatest number of votes. Palmer was elected on the first ballot, receiving 126 of 168 ballots cast (74.5%). Seymour withdrew his name prior to balloting. |
