Description | Center-left, secularist party founded by the former President of the Tunisian Republic, Béji Caïd Essebsi, and led by his son, Hafedh from October 19, 2018 until he was expelled from the party after two years of internal turmoil on July 27, 2020. The public repaid the party during this time of turmoil by voting it down after elections held in 2019 to a disastrous three seats in the Assembly of Representatives (ARP) [Party had held 86 seats since 2014]. Party began as the Destourian and far-left Rassemblement constitutionnel démocratique which also collapsed due to infighting on March 9, 2011. Party has been chaired by former Foreign Secretary Khemaies Jhinaoui since 2020. [حركة نداء تونس; Ḥarakat Nidā’ Tūnis; Appel de la Tunisie ('Call of Tunisia')]. |
