Center-right party launched by the nation's first democratically-elected president Juan Bosch while in exile in Cuba (Bosch also founded the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in 1973). Bosch used his Cuba base to undermine the regime of Rafael Trujillo for 25 years, and hadn't set foot in the Dominican Republic until after Trujillo's assassination on May 30, 1961. Party holds four seats in the 190-seat Dominican Parliament. Party is led by Miguel Vargas Maldonado [Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD)].
