DescriptionCoalition of 31 parties led by the Indian National Congress (INC) formed to contest the 2024 General Elections. Alliance involves major state-level parties such as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Alliance was preceded by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), led by Sonia Gandhi and dissolved on July 18, 2023. Alliance suffered a blow in late 2023, when a key member in the formation, Bihar’s Chief Minister’s Nitish Kumar-led JDU (Janata Dal United), decided to part ways and joined the 37-party National Democratic Assembly (NDA) instead, led by the ruling BJP. Alliance is chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Indian National Congress since 2022 [Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A); Bhāratīya Rāṣhṭrīya Vikāsātmaka Samāveśhī Gaṭhabandhan]
