Description | CLEVELAND (AP) -- These are difficult times for the former Cleveland mayor who helped the city’s comeback reputation.
Leaked documents indicate the FBI believes former Mayor Michael White traded city contracts for bribes. White hasn’t been charged and hasn’t commented on the federal investigation.
Critics say the investigation confirmed suspicions about his administration. Even supporters say the matter could cloud a positive legacy of presiding over a decade-long resurgence.
Councilman Michael Polensek says he wasn’t surprised that White was the target of the corruption investigation. He thought something was amiss years ago. |
