Info | Born in rural Jamaica and educated in Canada, Monica Purdy came to Toronto and entered the health care field, working as a Registered Nurse for the past 18 years. Monica’s nursing career, which began at Toronto East General Hospital, has been varied and fulfilling. Married, working full time, mother of a young daughter, she enrolled as a part-time student in a BScN program at Ryerson, graduating in 1997. Since then she has also completed her Masters Degree in Nursing at the University of Toronto. Building upon her experience as a direct care practitioner, Monica was asked to become clinical informatics manager at Mt. Sinai, where she directs a new technology program that will help make hospitals better and patient care safer for all of us.
A dedicated health care professional, mother of a school age daughter, committed to excellence in service for all citizens, Monica Purdy knows how to drive these issues for the benefit of everyone in Beaches East-York.
Monica’s community involvement has included volunteering as a literacy teacher at the Parkdale Project Read, as a Board member with the Harmony Hall Seniors Centre and Jessie’s Centre for Teenagers, and as a member of the Parent Council at her daughter’s public school.
For the last 13 years Monica has been a resident of Toronto Beaches East York, living originally near East General in East York and now in the Beaches.
