Info | Patrick Meyer spent his formative years in the Netherlands and now lives with his wife and daughter in the WindSong intentional community in Walnut Grove, Langley. WindSong allows its members to benefit from a close-knit community while leaving a smaller ecological footprint by sharing resources with neighbours.
Patrick's formal education is in philosophy, political science, and business administration. He works in project management and philosophical counselling, and hosts bi-weekly philosophy cafés. What drives him is his desire to form a government that thinks long-term, thus ensuring a sustainable society. Solutions must be developed through inter-generational, integrated, triple bottom line resource planning that includes economic, social, and environmental
indicators.
"There's more to life than buying stuff; we are not merely consumers. Life is about the relationships you have. Policy made by government must reflect not only our economic values but also our social values, and ensure that we can enjoy our families and friends in a healthy society. Long-term plans are needed to ensure that your kids and mine, and their children, can enjoy the same natural and social wealth which we enjoy right now."
Patrick believes that government must consult directly and regularly with members of the public, business owners, and municipal and provincial governments.
