InfoEdmund D. "Ed" Kahn was born on Armistice Day (November 11), 1935 in the Bronx, New York and raised in, what was at the time, a rural area of New York City.
Kahn earned a BS degree in Journalism from Fordham College. He spent a few years traveling New York State and Europe doing publicity for such diverse items as New York State Wines, bowling alleys and modern bathtubs. He also worked as assistant editor for the American Gas Association Journal.
In 1962, Kahn switched directions and worked his way through the night session of Fordham Law School. In 1966 Kahn achieved two great accomplishments; receiving his LLB from Fordham Law School and winning the hand of his wife of over 30 years, Kathleen (Kathy). The new couple then relocated to Window Rock, Arizona where Kahn started his law career as an attorney for the Navajo tribe. The Kahn's three children (Andrew and the twins, Karl and Kevin) were born while they were living on the Navajo Reservation.
On Von Steuben Day (September 30) in 1969, the Kahn's moved to Tucson. Since then, he has been practicing law specializing in insurance subrogation, civil trials and Constitutional Law.
Kahn's lifelong interest in the Constitution led him to organize the Arizona Constitutional Rights Union as a moderate alternative to the left-wing extremist American Civil Liberties Union.
Kahn has been a candidate for TUSD Board of Trustees, Republican candidate for State Legislature, President of the Pima County Republican Club, member of the City of Tucson Transportation Advisory Committee, Tucson Women's Commission, Knights of Columbus, YMCA India Guides, Chamber of Commerce City Budge Review Committee and Tucson Management and Information Group.
His professional activities include membership in the New York, New Mexico and Arizona Bar Associations and serving on both the Arizona Bar Association Indian Law Committee and the Pima County Bar Association Grievance Committee.
Ed Kahn is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve, Judge Advocate General Corps (retired) and organized and actively participates in the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Judge Advocate General's Annual, Open, Invitational and Disorganized Amateur Tennis Classic.
