Ms Ndabeni-Abrahams has been a member of the following portfolio committees: Portfolio Committee on Communications and Committee Whip in 2011; Portfolio Committee on Defence and Committee Whip from 2009 to 2011; member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Intelligence; and member of the ANC Parliamentary Caucus Sub-Committee on Political Education.

She has also served as a member of the ANC Youth Leagues (ANCYL) National Executive Committee and member of the North West Committee from 2008 to 2010; member of ANC Eastern Cape Youth League Provincial Executive Committee in 2008; ANCYL Regional Secretary (Mthatha) from 1999 to 2002; and as Chairperson of Mthatha East Youth Development Forum in 1999; from 1989 to 1999 she was a member of the Zakhele-Kroza ANCYL Branch Executive Committee; Provincial Secretary of the Eastern Cape Youth Economic Council; and member of the ANCYL of Mthatha East Zone from 1990 to 1994.

She has also served as a Project Manager for the Eastern Cape Socio-Economic Consultative Council from 2003 to 2009. She was Deputy Minister of the then Communications Department of the Republic of South Africa since 25 October 2011 till 25 May 2014
