InfoElected to the House of Commons for the first time in September 1984, as a Progressive Conservative, Guy St-Julien was re-elected in November 1988. He chaired the Standing Committee on Indian Affairs and Northern Development. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Library of Parliament, and the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.

He returned to politics in June 1997 under the Liberal banner and was re-elected in November 2000 for a second term as MP for Abitibi - James Bay - Nunavik.

From 1965 to 1968, he was a member of Hydro Québec's technical surveys team for the James Bay project. He was also president of the Steelworkers Union local. From 1969 to 1980 he worked for the law firm of St-Julien, Beaulieu and Associates. He was also Director of Human Resources for Consortium Promecan Inc. in Dubuisson, Quebec from 1993 to 1997.

Mr. St-Julien founded and organized the regional and provincial Canadian Broomball Championships. He is a member of the Val d'Or Kiwanis Club, the Foreurs de Val d'Or hockey club (Quebec Major-Junior League), the Radisson historic site, and the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. St-Julien was educated at Collège Roussin and the Académie de Québec.

Guy St-Julien and his wife Diane have one daughter.
