Info | Has been part of three different political parties in British Columbia politics.
- Led the BC Liberals in party revival during the 1991 elections
- Was kicked out of the BC Liberals for having an affair with a member of the caucus. He left his wife and he and his new wife formed the Progressive Democratic Alliance. He was elected as the parties sole MP in the 1996 elections
- In 1999 left the PDA and became an NDP Minister in the cabinet of Premier Glen Clark.
Gordon Wilson was appointed Minister of Forests on November 1, 2000.
He previously served as as Minister of Employment and Investment from February 2000 to November 2000, Minister of Education from September 1999 to February 2000, Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations from July 1999 to September 1999, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs from January 1999 to July 1999 and Minister Responsible for BC Ferries from January 1999 to February 2000.
Mr. Wilson was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1991 and was re-elected in 1996. He represents the riding of Powell River-Sunshine Coast. He became leader of the Official Opposition following the 1991 election and led the Progressive Democratic Alliance party of British Columbia from December 1993 to January 1999. He was appointed special constitutional adviser to the Provincial Government in January 1997.
For 17 years, Mr. Wilson lectured and conducted research in economic geography at Capilano College. Before his election to the Legislature, he was elected to the Sunshine Coast Regional District Board in 1985, where he served as a director until 1992. He has also served as an executive member of the Association of Vancouver Island Municipalities.
Mr. Wilson was born in Vancouver and raised in Kenya, East Africa. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the State University of New York and a master�s degree in economic geography and resource management from the University of British Columbia.
He is married to former MLA Judeline Tyabji Wilson. They have five children: Christina, Mathew, Kas, Kiri and Tanita.
