Platform: Brownson is critical of what he sees as an “idea-of-the-month” mentality at Columbus City Hall, careening from initiative to initiative with little follow-through.
“I will be relentless in focusing council’s efforts on important initiatives that require continuous attention, particularly economic development and jobs,” he said.
Brownson touts his business background as an asset in the city’s hunt for new employers.
He has proposed building on Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s Neighborhood Pride program, a week each year when city departments intensify their work in designated areas. He wants to include Columbus City Schools and economic-development efforts for a yearlong focus.
“Imagine the impact of … school-anchored neighborhoods that are safe, pedestrian-friendly, have new economic activity with business owners from the neighborhood, and rising property values.”
