InfoMy name is Bruce Meringolo and I have submitted my name for consideration for the
open position on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders. I would like to
share with you my background and thoughts on why I believe I would be an excellent
addition to the Freeholder Board.
I am a former elected official who just recently left office in Long Hill Township after
serving 15 years on both the township committee and school board, including one year as Mayor.
During my 15 years on the Township Committee and school board, I played an instrumental role in the
budgeting processes of both. I am a fiscal conservative and brought this philosophy to my role in local
government. Working side-by-side with my follow Township Committee members, we recently brought Long
Hill into a debt-free position.
During my time on the Township Committee, I worked closely with county and state legislators, expanding
my experience and knowledge beyond local government. For example, in coordination with county and state
officials I was able to help mitigate the impact of our township’s affordable housing agreement through
reasonable negotiations. In addition, I served on the New Jersey League of Municipalities Legislative
Committee, which reviews and comments on pending legislation to protect the interests of local government
and their residents.
