Info | Scotland Willis was born and raised in Boston, MA. He grew up in the Fort Hill area of Roxbury. Scotland has always had an interest in the world around him and has traveled to many different places including living in Dusseldorf, Germany, Rome, Italy and parts of Central America.
He has close ties to the community as a member of several local organizations including the Education Action Committee at Charles Street AME church and Vice Chair of Help a Poor Child and United South End Settlements. These close ties are also centered in Boston because much of his family resides here. All three of his sons attended Boston Public schools, his Aunt is a BPS teacher and his brother is a Boston Police officer.
After raising three boys on his own, Scotland went back to college to get his bachelors degree. Scotland’s a Magna Cum Laude, Northeastern University graduate having obtained a degree in sociology and anthropology. He is also an alumni of NTL Institute of Applied Behavioral Science, where he focused on organizational behavior and cultural sociology.
Scotland operates Biosphere Management Consulting and is a Senior Partner at The Lyceum Group, in Boston. His current attention is on corporate sustainability and strategies for Green Jobs in communities that need them most. His practice ranges from CDC’s to Universities and the Department of Education. Scotland was chosen as a panelist at the Green For All Conference in 2008; he also was a presenter at the 7th annual MCAN conference and will speak at the upcoming NESEA conference in March 2009. His work also focuses on creating sustainable solutions for economic development.
He co-chairs Urban-Massachusetts-Green-Alliance for green jobs, and is the founder and developer of a the Green Constitution project
. With his experience in sustainable development policy and close ties to Boston and the Boston Public schools, Scotland Willis want to be the next city councilor at-large to protect our schools, our communities and the environment.
