Info | SHATTUC, William Bunn, a Representative from Ohio; born in North Hector, Schuyler County, N.Y., June 11, 1841; moved to Ohio in 1852 with his parents, who settled near Sandusky; attended the public schools; enlisted in Company I, Second Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, August 13, 1861, as second lieutenant; mustered out February 21, 1863, as first lieutenant; assistant and afterward general passenger agent of the Ohio & Mississippi Railway Co. 1865-1894; member of the State senate in 1895; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fifth, Fifty-sixth and Fifty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1897-March 3, 1903); chairman, Committee on Immigration and Naturalization (Fifty-sixth and Fifty-seventh Congresses); was not a candidate for renomination in 1902; died in Madisonville, near Cincinnati, Ohio, July 13, 1911; interment in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
