Info | 52 year-old Husic grew up in Blacktown and attending local Mitchell High School before working on the staff of Chifley MP Roger Price, as a union organiser, and later working in media relations with Integral Energy. He was the Labor candidate in Greenway at the 2004 election when a small number of zealots became obsessed about him having come from a Bosnian Muslim family, the resultant whispering campaign playing a part in his defeat at the election. (Husic describes himself as non-practicing Muslim). Before winning Chifley in 2010, Husic was National President of the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union with focus on employees in Australia Post and Telstra. Husic was Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister during Kevin Rudd's brief return as Prime Minister in 2013. He has served in the Shadow Ministry since 2016 and is currently Shadow Minister for Industry and Innovation.
