InfoPeter Kent has almost 40 years experience in broadcast journalism, including anchoring positions both at home and abroad. Kent broke into radio news in Vancouver in the early sixties (CJOR and CFUN, just in time, among other things, to cover the Beatles BC debut). In 1965 he broke into TV news with CFCN Calgary. He spent the last half of 1966 in Viet Nam as a freelance cameraman/reporter.

Over the next three and a half decades Kent worked with CTV, Global Television, CBC, NBC, and, Monitor Television in the U.S., taking foreign postings around the globe covering stories that made international headlines. These include the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Viet Nam, events leading up to the end of the Cold War, the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, as well as major news events in South America, the Middle East and Africa. Kent has experienced the tragedy of human suffering and has covered the news under fire from many of the world's major crisis centres.

In 1981 Kent helped to start up CBC's current affairs magazine show, "The Journal" as a founding producer. He spent the next three years with "The Journal" anchoring, producing, writing and reporting from assignments that included Uganda, Viet Nam and Cambodia.

Kent has many awards to his credit including an "Actra" award for a CBC documentary of the Fall of Cambodia and the Chicago Film Festival "Gold Hugo" award for a news special on the 20th Anniversary of the 1967 War in Israel. In 1991, while working for "World Monitor" in Boston, he won the "Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Award" for a series on problems in the inner city.

Born in Sussex, England of Canadian parents, Kent came to Canada as an infant. He is married to Cilla whom he met and married in South Africa. They have one daughter Trilby.
