Info | Lee Farnworth is the Liberal candidate for Ottawa West-Nepean.
A professor of Political Science/Public Administration and Issues in Diversity/First Nations at Algonquin College, Ms. Farnworth has a long history of community involvement. She was elected a hydro commissioner as well as serving two terms as a city councilor for the former city of Nepean.
Ms. Farnworth acted as President of her Community Association for many years, and has served on the Board of Directors of Nelson House, a shelter for women and children who are victims of violence. She is also a past president of the Nepean Non-Profit Housing Corporation, and a former member of the City of Ottawa’s Health & Social Services Advisory Committee. Ms. Farnworth has been recognized for her community involvement with the 2003 Y Women of Distinction Award for Volunteerism as well as the Canada 125 Medal.
As someone who was born in Italy and came to Canada as a small child, Lee Farnworth appreciates the challenges facing new Canadians. Her personal background, experience in public office, and work in the volunteer sector will enable her to bring a unique perspective to the House of Commons.
Ms. Farnworth and her husband have lived in the Ottawa West-Nepean area for 27 years where they have raised their two children.
