The third Democratic National Convention was held in the Hall of the Musical Association in Baltimore MD. Delegates attended from 21 states. Not represented were CT, DE, IL, SC, and VA.
Temporary Chairman: Isaac Hill NH
Permanent Chairman: William Carroll TN
Martin Van Buren was renominated for President on the first ballot unanimously. No nomination was made for VP. The convention granted state affiliates the right to run the most appropriate candidate for their state, although the incumbent Richard M. Johnson appeared on the ballot with Van Buren in most states.
