Description |
Beijing, China was chosen to host the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008 on the second ballot in Moscow on July 13, 2001.
Ten cities placed bids for the Games with five being chosen as "Candidate Cities" on August 28, 2000. The final decision was made by the full IOC membership at the 112th IOC Session in Moscow on July 13, 2003. Osaka, Japan was eliminated on the first ballot and Beijing easily defeated the remaining three cities on the second ballot to win the Games.
