Description |
Vancouver, Canada was chosen to host the XXI Olympic Winter Games on the second ballot in Prague on July 02, 2003.
Eight cities placed bids for the Games with four being chosen as "Candidate Cities" on August 28, 2002. The four cities that did not make the short-list were Andorra la Vella, Jaca(Spain), Harbin(China) and Sarajevo. Berne, Switzerland withdrew its bid on September 27, 2002 after almost 80% voted against a referendum to fund the Games.
