Prohibition nomination
The Prohibition Party held a convention on 8/3/1888 in Washington NC, where nominees were chosen for Beaufort County races, legislative races, and then for US House. D.W. Jarvis, who served as chairman of the event, was nominated unanimously for US House on the first ballot (Washington Progress, 8/7/1888).
Democratic nomination
The Democratic district convention was held in Elizabeth City on 8/7/1888. Skinner was nominated by acclamation on the first ballot (Raleigh News & Observer, 8/8/1888).
Republican nomination
The Republican district convention met in Edenton on 8/22/1888. White was nominated by acclamation (Elizabeth City North Carolinian, 8/29/1888).
