I would never vote in a by-election because they don't change the Balance of Power in the House of Commons whatsoever and I am Canadian. Even if voting were mandatory, I would simply not fill in the ballot if it were a by-election.

So you don't care who represents you if power isn't in the balance?

I do, but I still wouldn't vote in a by-election. I would in a federal general election because every seat is up.

Alpha order. Dunno if this helps or hurts any of the parties.

I completed the thankless task of entering in all 91 candidates. Surprisingly most of the candidates were already created and I found a few dupes in the process.

This must be the entire membership list (or close to it) of the Rhino Party. And most were recycles from other by-elections or longest list races.

I'd just recommend always checking "out of state" when adding these type of candidates since Canada doesn't require candidates to be in the district or Province to run.

I was wondering how long it would take...

Sorta interesting that someone with the last name so close to Palestine is being abandoned in her bid for Parliament by party apparatchik over the issue of Palestine.

Canadians should not believe polls, nor should they answer them. Election results should always be a surprise.

Going to bed. left link. who knows who's gonna win. tight three way race. All the top three have taken a lead at least one.

What I picked up from watching results is that apparently Palestini came early to her "victory" party and left early. Like right after she thanked volunteers.

The speculation is there will be a new Liberal candidate for the next election. Despite the NDP Sauve coming close he'll need to make a choice as to give it another stab or run for relection (which is more likely). And the Bloc Sauve will likely get a front bench assignment but that 30% is the ceiling for a Bloquiste in this riding. So expectations for re-election are low. Of course with the Libs in free-fall there is a chance for re-election but the conditions would need to be the same with the Bloc, Libs, and NDP splitting the vote three ways.

Another nail in Justin Trudeau's political coffin.

Bad news for Trudeau's liberals going into the next election.
