| Description |
The Fort Rouge riding existed from 1973-1990 and was re-created in 1999. The riding contains the core area of Winnipeg, including the legislative building. It runs between the Red River to the east and the Assiniboine River to the west, and from Portage Avenue to the north to Corydon/Mulvey to the south.
The population in 2001 was 20,325. The average family income was $56,786, with an unemployment rate of 5.9 per cent. The main industry was health and social services (13%) followed by accommodations and food services (11%).
