Info | On March 24, 1998, voters in Dartmouth North chose Jerry Pye to represent them at the Legislature. Jerry joined 18 other New Democrats to form the largest NDP Caucus in Nova Scotia history and was re-elected in 1999 and 2003.
Jerry spent eleven years representing Ward 5 as an Alderman for the City of Dartmouth and 1 year as Deputy Mayor. His efforts have been instrumental in bringing about an awareness of issues affecting his aldermanic ward and as a result, residents have witnessed over $8 million in Capital Projects such as street construction, curbed sidewalks, bus shelters, playgrounds and a number of studies aimed at improving the Ward.
Jerry's experience is as diverse as his interests. His community involvements include: Past involvement with the Albro Lake Lands Group; Past Public Relations Officer for the Four Neighbourhood Improvement Program, (presenting the Rezoning Plans for the NIP Area to City Council); Past Director/Treasurer of the Farrell Benevolent Society; Past Coach in North Dartmouth Minor Baseball; Past member of the Ward Five Citizens Association; Presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Dartmouth Boys and Girls Club; Presently serves on the Salvation Army's Booth Community Board; and served as a member on the New Democratic Party's Municipal Affairs Committee.
Aside from Jerry's numerous community involvements, he has also participated in a number of Municipal Boards such as: Arbitration Committee; Municipal Planning Strategy Review Committee; Museum Board; Natal Day Committee; Winter Carnival Committee; Former Member of the Postal Services Customer Council - Atlantic Canada Division; Public Works and Safety (Taxi Commission and Transit Advisory Board ); Police Commission and Dartmouth District School Board.
Jerry is the NDP critic for Community Services, Disabled Persons Commission, and Seniors.
