Info | Elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2010, Chris quickly gained recognition as a credible constitutional conservative. Many legislators try to distance themselves from their voting record while campaigning. Not so for Chris Holbert. In 2011, Chris was rated the #1 House "Guardian of Liberty" by Liberty Watch Colorado and their #1 "Champion for Liberty" in 2012. Chris also became the highest rated member of the Douglas County state legislative delegation all four of his years in the state House. Please click on the following links to review rating reports from the Colorado Union of Taxpayers (2011, 2012, 2013, & 2014) and Principles of Liberty (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014). During the 2014 Colorado General Session, Chris was one of seven state legislators to have earned a 100% rating with the Colorado Union of Taxpayers and the prestigious "Taxpayer Champion" designation.
During the 2013 Colorado General Session when the Democrats forced through their infamous "gun control" agenda, which Chris refers to as "citizen control," supporters of the Second Amendment came to appreciate Chris' uncompromising stance on the Right to keep and bear arms. Chris has upheld his promise to not negotiate with the rights of law-abiding citizens and to not compromise on the Second Amendment. Those aren't just words. Chris' voting record and bill sponsorships are 100% pro-Second Amendment.
Chris was elected to the state Senate during the 2014 election cycle. In 2015, the Denver Post recognized him as one of the few "winners" of that session due in part to to his bi-partisan, bi-cameral, leadership to reduce the frequency of K-12 assessments and to guaranty a parent's right to opt their kids out of standardized assessments. In 2016, the Colorado Statesman named Senator Holbert one of their "winners" due to 26 of the 28 bills for which he was prime sponsor becoming law. Senator Holbert's 92.8% close ratio was, by far, the most effective in the legislature that year.
Following the 2016 elections, the Senate Republican caucus elected Senator Holbert to serve as Majority Leader of the Colorado Senate. Under his leadership, Senate Republicans began to hold regular press briefings, something that had not been done for many years. Due in part to that effort, reporters soon began to recognize Senate Republicans as being the "adults in the room" when it came to discussing policy solutions for Colorado.
Chris has been involved in federal and state legislative and regulatory matters pertaining to the real estate industry since 1992, and in the automobile industry during the preceding seven years. From Denver to Washington, D.C., Mr. Holbert has advocated with success within the executive and legislative branches of government. Mr. Holbert has a solid track record of value delivery, bottom line profitability, effective communications, and principled representation. Both Democrats and Republicans in the Colorado General Assembly, and members of the Colorado Congressional delegation, have praised Chris’ principled, respectful, and informed advocacy based on truth and accountability.
Teaching and public speaking are passions for Chris. He has spent countless hours educating people throughout Colorado about the two-year election cycle, caucus system, and how to affect positive change.
