Info | Diane Holbert was appointed Douglas County Commissioner, District I, by the Douglas County Republican Party Vacancy Committee on April 9, 2018. Diane was appointed to serve the remaining term of former County Commissioner David Weaver, who vacated his seat on April 1, 2018, approximately eight months before the end of his first term.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Holbert was in the final year of her second term serving as Douglas County Treasurer, a position to which she was elected in 2010, following a twenty-four-year career in the real estate finance industry. Her private sector experience and focus on fiscal accountability informed her role as Treasurer and her responsibility for the stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Ms. Holbert’s top priorities as County Commissioner are centered on her commitment to protect the quality of life Douglas County residents have come to expect and enjoy. This includes an emphasis on sustaining a viable, renewable water supply; public safety; economic retention; and strong support for improving transportation infrastructure throughout Douglas County.
In addition to her fundamental responsibilities as a County Commissioner, Ms. Holbert also serves as a representative of Douglas County, by way of Board appointment, to the following area organizations: Arapahoe County Public Airport Authority, Executive Committee; Centennial Airport Community Noise Roundtable; Community Services Block Grant Tripartite Board; Developmental Pathways Board of Directors; the Douglas County Youth Initiative Advisory Committee; the Metro Economic Development Corporation; and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District.
Additionally, Commissioner Holbert shares in the Board’s responsibility for the County’s presence on the Chatfield Basin Watershed Authority; Partnership of Douglas County Governments; Denver South Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors; and the Metro Area County Commissioners.
Holbert also serves as the Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI) Steering Committee appointee for the Taxation and Finance Committee and the Tourism and Economic Development Committee.
She approaches her role as a County Commissioner with a public servant mindset and the desire to continue advancing the type of innovation she led while serving in the Treasurer’s Office.
Diane shepherded the launch of the County’s Open Data Initiative in which she leveraged new technology to innovate solutions in the County’s services delivery, financial transparency, and access to information.
Ms. Holbert brings her conservative values, as well as an emphasis on governing with transparency, fiscal accountability, and openness to her role as County Commissioner.
A resident of Douglas County since 2003, Diane holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Denver and is a Certified Treasury Professional.
