My name is Charles J. Fleischmann, but most people call me “Chuck.” I am a fiscal and social conservative, and I am running for Congress. I hope to represent Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District in Washington. I have practiced law for the past 23 years in my own small firm in Chattanooga. I represent individuals and businesses all around Tennessee, and sometimes, I sit as special judge.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, where I graduated in three years. I received a B.A. in Political Science and graduated with highest distinction from that department. I also minored in history. I received both Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude honors. After graduation, I attended law school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where I received my J.D. During law school, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work as a clerk for renowned Knoxville attorney Foster Arnett, who I still look to as my mentor. After graduating from law school, I moved to Chattanooga. In 1987, I founded my law firm, Fleischmann and Fleischmann, where I work with my wife. I have been serving the Chattanooga community ever since.
I have been married to my wife, Brenda M. Fleischmann, for 23 years. We have three sons: Charles(Chuckie) who is 20, James (Jamie) who is 18 and Jeffrey who is 12. I live in Ooltewah and work in downtown Chattanooga.
I believe that giving back to my community is important. I have served on the Board of the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. I have also served on the board of FACES, which is the National Craniofacial Association. I am a past president of the Chattanooga Bar Association. I have served as chairman of the Chattanooga Lawyers Pro Bono Committee, and I have been a radio host of the “Chuck Fleischmann Show” providing free legal help to those in the Chattanooga community. I have been an auctioneer for our local public television station, Channel 45, supporting their efforts to raise funds for public television. In support of the arts, I have provided free legal help to the Chattanooga Symphony for their “show house.”
Citizens throughout the district have encouraged me to step forward and run for the 3rd Congressional District seat recently vacated by Zach Wamp when he decided to run for governor. Business people, lawyers, doctors, dentists, accountants and other citizens from across the district have volunteered to help me with my campaign. They believe that I am the right choice for Tennessee. I believe that my background and my experience make me not only the right choice for Tennessee but also the most effective choice for Tennessee in Congress.
