Info | Cynthia Noland Dunbar currently teaches anatomy & physiology to high school juniors and seniors. Additionally, she is a licensed practicing attorney who has devoted much of her practice to the area of appellate law. A frequent public speaker, she does radio interviews and speeches addressing various constitutional, common law and public policy issues.
Dunbar obtained her undergraduate degree in biology and psychology from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She graduated with honors from Regent University School of Law, where she served as the founding editor of the school's law review. She is the recipient of three separate American Jurisprudence Awards.
Dunbar served as director of governmental affairs for Fort Bend County, Precinct 3, functioning as in-house counsel and legislative liaison. She is a licensed member of both the Texas and Missouri State Bar Associations. She is active in her community having volunteered as an Awanas Leader, Boy Scout Den Mother, and school homeroom mom. Her civic involvements also include helping such organizations and events as the Fort Bend Boys Choir, Faith Lutheran Shoot for the Stars Gala and the American Cancer Society.
A conservative Republican, Dunbar has been an active member of the Spirit of Freedom Republican Women's Club and has served on its board in numerous capacities. Additionally, she has held memberships in the West Fort Bend Republican Club, the Fort Bend Republican Women's Club and the Fort Bend Republican Club. She has attended Republican State Conventions as both an alternate and a delegate and was honored to attend the National Republican Convention in 1980 as a youth delegate when the party nominated Ronald Reagan for President.
Dunbar is married to Glen Dunbar, an assistant county attorney for Fort Bend County, and has two children. She and her family attend River Pointe Church in Richmond, Texas.
Dunbar was elected to the State Board of Education in November 2006 and will serve a four year term on the board. She serves on the board's Committee on Instruction. As a member of the board, Dunbar represents the counties of Austin, Bastrop, Burleson, Colorado, DeWitt, Fayette, Gonzales, Lavaca, Lee, Milam, Waller, Washington and Williamson as well as parts of Brazoria, Fort Bend and Travis counties.
