Prokopis Pavlopoulos was elected President with the support of the Governmental coalition parties of Syriza, Independent Greeks but also of New Democracy, his own party.
His sole opponent, Nikos Alivizatos was supported by the PASOK and was the candidate of To Potami (The River).
Some representatives voted Present, which counts against the candidates who need at least 180 out of 300 votes to be elected President. This position was supported by the communist Party of Greece KKE and the neonazi movement Golden Dawn.
