Situated on the south coast of England is the seat of Bournemouth East in Dorset. The constituency includes the communities of Boscombe, Southbourne and Throop, and is traversed by the River Stour, which spills into Christchurch Bay.

Bournemouth, with its miles of sandy beaches, buzzing nightlife and home to some of the UK's biggest free festivals, is a fast-growing and prosperous town. Tourism remains the backbone of the local economy.

Unsurprisingly, a high proportion of pensioners live here; almost a third of people - 31% - rent privately, the 29th highest of all the constituencies in England and Wales, according to ONS 2011 Census figures.
One in six works in retail, while one in five works in education, human health and social work. Conservative Tobias Ellwood has been MP since 2005. In 2010, he held the seat with 48.4% of the votes; Liberal Democrats got 30.9%, Labour 13.3% and UKIP 6.9%.
