Swansea East has seen substantial investment and economic regeneration in recent decades, including the rebirth of the docks area as Swansea marina, and it was one of the first industrial enterprise zones in the early 1980s.
Major local employers include the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and Morriston Hospital. The constituency also hosts Premier League football at the Liberty Stadium, home of Swansea City and the Welsh rugby region the Ospreys.
