Description | South Carolina's electors were elected by the state legislature on 11/2/1852, the same day that other states cast the popular vote. The Presidential Electors were unanimously chosen. While discussing instructing the Electors, some legislators favored Pierce while others supported Troup, but when it became evident that Pierce had majority support, the Troup supporters did not call for an official vote on the instruction. |
