Description | Our new User of the Week is Brett. A resident of Washington State, he joined OC on 6/26/2003. During his time at OC, Brett has used several different screen names. His primary name for quite a while was Scott Mattson, the name by which many in the OC AARP Caucus know him. Among his other names have been Ralphie Parker, Rex Grossman, and Dan Evans Republican.
Brett has been one of the most popular OC Republicans, partially because he drinks RC Cola. He prefers a left of center social policy and a sound financial policy.
Brett has been active in silly politics at OC since the beginning. In the very first OC election, he ran for OC Vice President on a ticket with Wabash. Although the Wabash ticket was unsuccessful, it made Brett the leading contender in the second election.
OC Republicans were divided as the 4/2004 campaign began. Some Republicans were anxious to ban Drew Pritt (then usually called Pitt) from the site, and they created the "bAndrew" caucus. Brett felt that banning Pritt from the site was too rash. As the primary campaign progressed, Pritt became quieter, and the need subsided. Brett was nominated without opposition. For the general election, Brett suggested that a new cabinet position be created to specify someone to verify the accuracy of election data at OC. As the campaign progressed, polls showed Brett in the lead, with two chief rivals: Bob Heaney and Thomas Walker. In the end, Brett was elected with 47.4% of the vote.
Brett was an active OC President. He doubled the size of the cabinet, adding the positions of Attorney General; Secretaries of Communication, Copyright, Veterinary Affairs, and Cats; Chief of Staff; National Security Advisor; and Wicked Secretary of the West. Brett initiated the OC Census; his information is posted here: [Link] . At the end of his term, he left office with a 71% approval rating.
Brett continued to be active in OC retirement (except for a brief vacation from the site in late 2005). He participated in the US Parliament, a sim that never seemed to get off the ground. He has also served as Secretary of Puppies, Education, and Elections. He currently serves in the cabinet as the OC Republican Party liaison.
Always active in site building, Brett has made his mark in entering races. He finished all U.S. House races for Washington State and has been very active in posting current election information for foreign countries. If you can trust the recently posted numbers, Brett ranks #5 in terms of races entered and #6 in terms of sub-races. He posted almost 3,000 races in 2006.
Although he has contributed a lot already, there is the potential that he could add a lot of great information later. He plans to relocate to western Washington soon. He may have access to some historic election information going back to the creation of Washington Territory. This will be a treasure trove of information not otherwise posted on the internet. |
