| Description | Democratic nomination
The Democratic district convention met in Greensboro on 8/9/1882. The delegates nominated Scales for another term unanimously (People's Press, 8/17/1882).
Winston candidacy
Winston originally entered the race as the Greenback candidate (Wilmington Morning Star, 9/3/1882). He later won the LAP endorsement and the Republican nomination.
Ball candidacy
Ball entered the race around 11/1/1882 as a "pure" Republican (Greensboro North State, 11/2/1882).
Term of Office
Scales resigned on 12/30/1884 to become Governor of North Carolina. |
