Description | 69th edition contest held in Basel, Switzerland. 37 countries participating, with Montenegro returning after not sending a song the two previous years and Moldova pulling out due to economic concerns and the perceived quality of its forthcoming national final.
Top 10 entries by public vote in two semifinal contests advance to the final, alongside the host nation and the "big five" nations: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
First semifinal: May 13
Second semifinal: May 15
Votes are earned via industry professional juries representing each participating nation's sponsoring broadcaster as well as a public vote of each nation. This is traditionally weighted to be 50/50, though in 2023 a public vote region of "Rest of World" was added to encompass votes from all non-participating nations, thereby giving the public slightly more votes than the juries.
