Description | This constitutional measure would amend and reenact sections 12 and 13 of article IX of the Constitution of North Dakota, relating to the replacement of outdated terminology describing public institutions of the state. The amended sections are summarized as follows: the “school for the deaf and dumb of North Dakota” is changed to the “school for the deaf and hard of hearing”; a “state hospital for the insane” is changed to a “state hospital for the care of individuals with mental illness”; an “institution for the feebleminded” is changed to a “facility for individuals with developmental disabilities”; and a “state hospital for the mentally ill” is changed to a “state hospital for the care of individuals with mental illness.”
