Description | Center-right party formed by ex members of the Conservative Party (PC) [Partidul Conservator] upset over the PC's decision to merge with the Liberal Reform Party (PLR) to create the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) on June 19, 2015. The PC was originally known as the Romanian Humanist Party (PUR) [Partidul Umanist Român], founded in 1991 by businessman Dan Voiculescu. Party leaders are acolytes of Voiculescu's doctrine of 'pragmatic humanism' and stress the party's identification with Voiculescu's ideas by registering "Social-Liberal" in English to its official name. Party is chaired by Daniel Ionașcu [Partidul Puterii Umaniste (Social-Liberal); The Party of Humanist Power (social-liberal); PPU (social-liberal)].
