Description | The Union Labor Party was formed in 1886 when several nominees received significant numbers of votes in Chicago. The party sought to draw rural Greenbacks and urban laborers into the same party. It received 146,000 votes for president in 1888. The party gradually faded in the following years, although local candidates continued to appear on the ballot until 1892. |
