Description | Trotskyist, self-titled 'Feminist Marxist' party founded in 1999 as a "Class against Class" (CcC) group within the Chilean section of the Trotskyist Faction - Fourth International. Party took 18 years to be legalized (on June 8, 2017), a delay brought about by controversy over its predilection toward street violence. Party was then dissolved by the Electoral Service in early 2018 after failing to crack above 5% of popular support during elections held in 2017 (party picked up only 4663 votes, or 0.08%). The PTR renamed itself Izquierda Anticapitalista de los Trabajadores (2018-2020) during its time as an "illegal" party. Party re-approached the Electoral Service, which granted it legalization in 2020. Party then renamed itself the Revolutionary Workers on October 2020 and competed in legislative elections held in 2021, only to fail again to reach 5% of the vote, forcing its second dissolution in early 2022. Party was led by Juan Gamboa [Partido de Trabajadores Revolucionarios (PTR)] |
